Apollo Beach is a growing community just along the mouth of the Tampa Bay.
It was born of a genius idea in the 1930’s to build a water front community that was ideally located equi-distant between Tampa and Sarasota. This gentleman couldn’t get it completed with the help of an engineering company out of Miami, so in 1957 sold it to a Francis Corr who continued the construction, had a few bumps in the road, then his son took over after moving his young family to the area in the mid 1960’s. This son, Thomas Corr, then continued the development of the community as it is now, as well as donated tons of land to be schools, parks, environmental areas, and mangrove swamps.
Water Front Living in Apollo Beach
Apollo Beach is an ideal location as they are close to water, so there is lots of waterfront living, complete with a small-town feel. They also still have easy and convenient access to Interstate 75.
Apollo Beach is full of lots of local businesses and not many chains. They obviously have a convenient drive to beaches, tourist attractions, and etc. There is growth finally reaching Apollo Beach, though some view it as a con. It is a great place to retire but not actually be “in’ a retirement community.
Most of the town is residential with a drive to get to big box places – like in the country. On one of the local Facebook groups – there are a few more well-known names that keep the laughter and fun abounding as well as help out in the community in unique ways.
Apollo Beach FL Reviews
Cons – weather, drive to Tampa/ traffic, high chance of being in a flood zone since you are so close to the water (though of course depends on exactly where you are). Many people don’t like that they are building so much nearby (though that is true everywhere in the general Tampa Bay Area).
