I reached out to lots of members here in our community, about their favorite local restaurants to get a burger. The results were overwhelming. I had no idea we had so many great burgers here in local businesses, either. That’s on me, though, as I don’t go out much. 😛 Here is the list of some of the best burgers in and around Tampa!

Chicago’s Best Burgers

Located in Brandon, at 1925A Brandon Blvd. Brandon, FL 33511, this new restaurant got some of the highest reviews and most recommendations for their burgers. No one person mentioned a specific burger, but only makes sense as they have lost of choices, PLUS a Build Your Own Burger option! They also offer salads, chili, and a couple different potato side options!

The Stein And Vine

The Stein and Vine is not a typical “burger joint” but actually more about the beer and wine, hence the name. They are located at 827 W Bloomingdale Ave. Brandon, FL 33511. Their site describes them the best: “The Stein & Vine is your neighborhood craft beer taproom, wine bar and restaurant in Brandon, Florida. Established in 2012 by locals, Ty and Lacey Mathis, the ‘PUB’ features over 40 rotating craft beers, 100+ bottled beers and 35+ wines. The food menu is inspired and crafted daily by Chef/Owner Ty Mathis. Look for new, creative fare on a daily basis as well as your everyday favorites.” Your everyday favorites ( well the community’s) must include a fantastic burger because many many people stated that was their favorite place for a burger!

AJ’s on the River

AJ’s on the River is a laid-back local bar and grill with views right over the Alafia River. Located at 9808 Vaughn St, Gibsonton, FL 33534, They are a local favorite for hanging out, and many events, such as trivia, live music nights, and daily specials. They also have a dock so you could take the trip over in your boat. Many people love their burgers, which is just one of the many menu items they serve.

Beef O’Brady’s

Now this restaurant is an exception to my rule of “local businesses.” but I let it slide as the FIRST of this franchise was in Brandon, and they first spread to many locations in the Tampa and SouthShore areas. They have since expanded even further than Tampa, but they got their start here in Brandon many many years ago, so I still consider them “local.” Beefs was started with a neighborhood pub ideal, with a sports theme, and an Irish blessing on all menus. They have a vast array of menu items, but a burger is a go-to favorite among all patrons, whether a regular or not.

Three Bulls Tavern

The Three Bulls Tavern is another newer restaurant to the area, but quickly became a favorite in the community in and around Bloomingdale. They are located at 4330 Bell Shoals Rd., Valrico, FL 33569. They are a brewery as well, so nothing better than to grab a beer and a burger to wash it down with. They have a wonderful dream about just being a part of the community: ” Three Bulls Tavern & Brewery hopes to be the place where community happens in Bloomingdale. Our passion for food, beer and occasion is why we created the Three Bulls concept. We hope to be the perfect neighborhood gathering place where old friends convene and new ones are made. So stop in on your way home from work, the gym or your kid’s little league game! We’ll have the smoker going and are pouring beer that was brewed right in your backyard! Cheers!”

Ford’s Garage

This is another exception to my “local business” rule. Ford’s is a chain as well, (at least still started in Florida) but their atmosphere cannot be beat! The cars over the bars with the working horns the bartenders ring once in a while, the other fun decor and quotes directly from Henry Ford, all make for a great view. We have a few locations here in the Tampa Bay area: Brandon, Wesley Chapel, Westchase, and a bit further out in Lakeland, St. Pete, and Clearwater. Even they really like the Tampa Bay area! ;P The whole restaurant is styled like an old 1920’s service station, complete with old brick and gas pumps and fixtures. Even a fan of a competitor’s brand (and non car people) would still enjoy the food, decor and atmosphere. The super cool thing about Ford’s Garage is many of the burgers are named after local celebrities, such as local sports team players, and politicians. How’s that for trying to keep it local?

Thee Burger Spot

Even listed on their site as having the best burgers in Tampa Bay, Thee burger Spot is a Seminole Heights staple. They are located at 3917 N. Tampa St., Tampa, FL 33610, and have a huge selection of gourmet burgers, sides and other non-beef products. Give them a try next time you are in the “Heights.” You even can find a donut burger, plus other fun Tampa burgers, or burgers to suit the season!

Jesse’s Steak And Seafood

Jesse’s Steak and Seafood Restaurant is one I remember going to for years, having grown up right here in the Tampa Bay Area. They are located at 524 W. Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL, 33510. They have been around since 1980 (longer than me!) and are many native’s favorite place to have a nice meal. Their Facebook Page touts them as “The Bay Area’s best charbroiled steaks, char burgers, spectacular seafood and slow roast prime ribs,” which could be hard to deny. They have separate lunch and dinner menus, full of variety. Make sure you get there one night soon for dinner at this local staple!

Woody’s River Roo

Talked about more in the Southshore area than others, Woody’s River Roo is a bit of a drive for those actually in Tampa, but still a must-try for anyone in the Tampa Bay Area. Woody’s River Roo is out in Ellenton, located at 5717 18th Street East, Ellenton, FL, 34222. They are also on a river, with a great fun vibe, and live music, with “Florida cuisine” as described on their site. A read on their site gives such a great story to how Woody’s River Roo came about, it is also accompanied by a thriving storefront.

Another small local restaurant with a chill vibe, Beanie’s is a favorite for many in the SouthShore area. Located in Ruskin, 2002 S US Highway 41,
Ruskin, FL, they are an easy drive from anywhere in the Tampa Bay Area. They are another sports bar and grill, with an extensive menu, tons of specials, and even a merchandise gallery. When in Ruskin, Make sure to take a trip to Beanie’s, even if only for a drink or their burger Ruskin Natives enjoy so much!
